- Chronic Pain
Approximately
one-third of all Americans suffer from some form of chronic
pain especially musculoskeletal & back pain, arthritis,
headaches, cancer, and pain from neurological and cardiac diseases.
The disability from chronic pain is more than from heart disease
and cancer combined. In just six months, persistent pain at
moderate or higher levels can cause reduced activity, personality
change, depression, emotional reactivity or narcotic pain medication
dependence. Chronic pain often becomes linked with high stress
states causing a vicious cycle to begin and continue. Dr. McDuff
has more than twenty years experience with alternative stress
and pain control strategies and can manage painkiller dependence
with buprenorphine.
