Christoff le roux, M.B.Ch.B.
Dr. Christoffel (Christoff) Le Roux is a Board-Certified General and Addiction Psychiatrist who treats adults ages 18 to 75.
Dr. Le Roux specializes in the treatment of mood disorders, substance use disorders (incl. opioid use disorder with office-based medication-assisted treatment), trauma and stressor-related disorders, personality disorders, and related navigation of interpersonal boundaries, finding an appropriate work-life balance, and/or finding a measure of peace within oneself.
He qualified as a medical doctor in South Africa in 2000, completed his first internship, and continued to work at 2 Military Hospital in Cape Town from 2001 to 2004. He completed psychiatric residency training in the U.S. from 2006 to 2009 at Loma Linda University (PGY-1 to PGY-3) and Morehouse School of Medicine (PGY-4) from 2009 to 2010. He completed post-graduate training at Emory University in geriatric psychiatry and then, addiction psychiatry. He worked at the Atlanta Veterans Affairs Hospital as an addiction psychiatrist and Emory University in the addiction psychiatry fellowship program from 2015 to 2020. He moved to Maryland in 2020, where his spouse has family. He has been a psychiatrist at The Retreat by Sheppard Pratt in Towson from 2020-2025. The Retreat is a multi-disciplinary residential psychiatric facility that treats very complex patients and professionals.
Dr. Le Roux’s approach to care is trauma-sensitive, and neurodiversity-affirming. He takes an organized approach to care. He has a deep appreciation and respect for recovery from addiction and co-dependence. Co-dependence, defined as the result of relational trauma. His therapy approach is based on helping his patients gain a felt sense of safety, aligning with their attachment abilities, collaborating with each individual’s relevant needs and goals, and supporting their growth process. His approach to prescribing is conservative and sensible. He has a special interest in supporting professionals in recovery.
Dr. Le Roux lives locally with his spouse and two young children.
