Anissa maroof, M.D.

Anissa Maroof, M.D. joined the Center in 2010.  She recently completed her general adult psychiatric residency training at Howard University Hospital in June 2009, and an addiction psychiatry fellowship at the University of Maryland Medical Center in June 2010.  She treats adolescents and adults who have co-occurring problems with mood, anxiety, or attention, and substance use disorders, with a focus on alcohol and prescription drug dependence.  She also treats individuals with mental illness and chronic pain.  She is authorized by the Drug Enforcement Agency to prescribe buprenorphine (suboxone) for opiate dependence.

She has co-authored a book chapter on trauma and parasomnias, and has a special interest in treating individuals with sleep disorders and mental illness.
